engage in thought or contemplation;
a reflection, often religious and spiritual in nature.
This the beauty of Psalm 119, with
the law of the Lord at it's center.
Considered to be the longest
of these Psalms, it's author is unknown,
but speculated to be of importance,
most likely a ruler in status,
possibly David, but not certain.
Clearly one who had suffered persecution
and was honest with his humanity,
he expressed himself with poetic flare
and ability to follow the guidelines
of acrostic literature...
each of the eight sections beginning
with the next letter of the Hebrew alphabet.
All that history aside...
to me, it expresses the core of humanity,
and the beauty of a heart that seeks after God.
So forgive me as I simply leave it pure.
Not all of it's 176 verses,
but these that pierce my heart,
and cause me a simple jealousy...
wishing I had been able to express
these same meditations, which mirror
my pledge to the Lord.
My soul clings to the dust;
Revive me according to Your word.
I have declared my ways,
and You answered me;
Teach me Your statutes.
Make me understand the way
of Your precepts;
So shall I meditate on Your wonderful works.
My soul melts from heaviness;
Strengthen me according to Your word.
Remove from me the way of lying,
And grant me Your law graciously.
I have chosen the way of truth;
Your judgments I have laid before me.
I cling to Your testimonies;
O Lord, do not put me to shame!
I will run the course of Your commandments,
For You shall enlarge my heart...
Give me understanding,
and I shall keep Your law;
Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Make me walk in the path of Your commandments,
For I delight in it...
Turn away my eyes
from looking at worthless things,
And revive me in Your way...
For I trust in Your word...
And I will walk at liberty,
For I seek Your precepts.
I will speak of Your testimonies
also before kings,
And will not be ashamed.
And I will delight myself in Your commandments,
Which I love.
Psalm 119:25-32, 34-35, 37, 42, 45-47
in Your word,
which I love.
If we ask Him,
He will cause us to understand.
If we seek Him,
He will cause us to fall in love,
delighting in everything that is
Word of God
train me, today...
to ever and always ask You for more,
to never be satisfied with less than
Your best for me.
from my heart...
I write as an overflow... an expression of my true love for God and with a deep desire to encourage others in their day to day lives. For we can only find peace, joy, and satisfaction when we yield to the One who yielded His life for us.
