A praise of David...
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable. Psalm 145:3 NKJV Words cannot describe our God. If one must be chosen, be it... GREAT... because we cannot possibly fathom the depth, width, length, or height of God. We cannot know His beginning nor His end. And we will never possibly learn nor grasp all there is to know about Him. For all eternity, we will be seeking after Him. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works. Psalm 145:8-9 Now, rather than focusing on only the amazing characteristics of God, I notice all the fullness. Because God doesn't just have mercies He has tender mercies over all. And God isn't just compassionate, He is full of compassion. God isn't just good to some, He is good to all. The Lord upholds all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look expectantly to You, And You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing. Psalm 145:14-16 And God does all this, because He does not want us to merely exist. No, He does not want us to struggle, only getting by, day after day. Though some of us DO live lives in just this fashion, in just this way. Simply stuggling day after day. Let us not point our fingers heavenward, blaming such emptiness on God. For we took part in the choices that led us to this day. And we too, can take part in this choice... to change direction. Realizing and recognizing that our God is in the business of satisfaction. He loves us so dearly, that He wants to... satisfy the desire of every living thing. And He is able to accomplish this only... when we place our trust in Him. God wants us to come to Him with our heart's deepest desire. And He wants us to let go of control and turn over to Him the pieces of our life. Knowing that He has the best plan for us. It may not be the plan we have lined up in our mind. But what He chooses for us, will satisfy the desire deep within our soul. For since He created us, He actually knows us better than we know ourselves. And what's more... He placed that very desire with in us long before creation. And He knows precisely how to sayisfy it if we will only let Him. Let us then, learn to trust the Creator with the creation. Word of God, train me, today... to give You GREAT praise for the FULLNESS of all You are, to turn the whole of my life over to You, trusting that you will SATISFY all I am. Lord, uphold me when I fall, raise me up when I am bowed down. Keep my eyes looking expectantly to You, I trust You to give me all I need in due season. For You are great, Lord, and greatly to be praised.
