How would you describe faith? Is it a vague cloudy vapor which hovers somwhere over your mind. Or maybe more like a belief hiding somewhere deep within your heart that you feel is too personal you prefer not to share. What if I told you that faith can be so much more than vaugue, cloudy, or indescribable... what if you realized that God's gift can be your title to so much more? For that's how Paul describes it... Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 This should help us to see it as more like the title of a possession... the Lord's guarantee to fulfill that which He births deep down and then proves true and tangible so others can also take hold of that which God intends. Faith is meant to be shared, surprising, contagious and evident. And God wants us to be certain of it. Like we hold the title to a home or a car. So if it's our faith we claim, like our car... we don't need to carry the paper receipt around everywhere we go, to prove it. Nor is it required for us to show the receipt n order to believe we have it. We can simply grab the keys and keep driving it, giving others a ride and enjoying the benefits. If we own it, we know it. Our faith is the deed. The car is just the evidence of our faith realized. Similarly, God wants us to be assured of our faith, just like He was when He spoke the world in to being, bringing something from nothing... By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3 God wants us to know that just because we don't hold something in our hands today doesn't mean it can't appear in the future... for He is able to create something from nothing. Similarly, many heros of faith proved they carried the same deed... stepping out with seemingly empty hands, but knowing God would provide what they hoped for... By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8 And not just men, but women too... By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11 Each of these, and so many more, held the title... the deed to the posession of faith, their hope and assurance in God that He would provide... that what He promised would be true for their future. And the evidence proved it... as assurance became substance, and so much more than just vaugue, cloudy, indescribable feelings we fail to understand. So so let us be bolder, more confident in our faith... knowing that God has given us possession of a hope, a deed to the future that WILL BE realized. Word of God train me today... To take hold of this substance, my faith, and realize it as true, fulfilled and real. To step out, like these heroes, realizing the evidence of my hope long before I ever see it, expressing my faith fully.
