rejoice in promise and prophecy

Oftentimes
we read past the words
of the prophets in the Old Testament
thinking, since that first half
of the Bible is "closed," those days
are done.

However, prophecy is just that...
a foretelling, or prediction of
days to come.
And while some of those have clearly
come and gone...
like the coming of the Messiah,
His death and resurrection.
Some is still being done...
in process, as it were.

For how can we pass up
promises so wonderful as these...

Shout for joy, O Daughter of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O Israel!
Rejoice, be in high spirits
and glory with all your heart,

O Daughter of Jerusalem in that day!

The Lord has taken away
the judgments against you;
He has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel,
even the Lord Himself,
is in your midst;
You will no longer fear disaster.

In that day it will be said to Jerusalem:
“Do not be afraid, O Zion;
Do not let your hands fall limp.

“The Lord your God is in your midst,
A Warrior who saves.
He will rejoice over you with joy;
He will be quiet in His love...
making no mention of your past sins,
He will rejoice over you
with shouts of joy."

Zephaniah 3:14-17 AMP

And this King of Israel is none other
than our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

He is the Warrior who saves us,
and now stays within us
as Holy Spirit, present
and always for us!

For Jesus said to His Disciples,
just as to us...
I am telling you these things now
while I am still with you.
But when the Father
sends the Advocate
as My representative...
that is, the Holy Spirit
He will teach you everything and
will remind you of everything
I have told you.

I am leaving you with a gift...
peace of mind and heart.
And the peace I give is a gift
the world cannot give.
So don’t be troubled or afraid.

John 14:25-27 NLT

Jesus, even in the New Testament,
repeated words from the Old.
He clarified and made certain we knew
His desire for our hearts
was to fulfill this prophecy...
living in peace,
no longer afraid.

He has, by grace, removed
the judgements against us,
saving us unto Himself.
And now, He eternally rejoices
over us, with shouts and songs of joy.

Let us not live our days
in fear or anxiety
over circumstances we cannot control.
Rather let us live out this prophecy
of the Old Testament,
filled with the promises of the New.

Word of God
train me today...

To believe I am Your Daughter,
fulfilling prophecy, living in freedom.

To shout for joy, and live in high spirits
knowing my Warrior has freed me
from my enemies.
