Is your heart heavy today?
Is your spirit lagging behind,
lacking the luster you long for?
Mine has been overwhelmed.
Mostly by things I have taken upon myself.
Tasks, goals, expectations...
all set for myself, which no one else knows.
And if they are not met
I become burdened.
But this morning we have much to celebrate.
This morning is one of praise...
planned by God long ago.
For my heart danced in it
as I read this out loud today!
The Lord frees the prisoners.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
Psalm 146:7-8 NLT
He frees me... a prisoner of my own schedule.
He opens my eyes... blinded by self doubt.
He lifts me... weighed down by perfection.
He loves me... so flawed,
yet desperate to seek Him.
These actions of God are not past tense,
nor future tense, but present tense.
They are constant and ever going on.
Our God is doing all of these... all the time.
And It matters not
what is weighing me down...
my thoughts, other people, my circumstance,
He lifts me up... and His power is absolute.
What a better way God has planned.
That I should begin the day like this...
Praise the Lord!
Let all that I am praise the Lord.
I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
I will sing praises to my God
with my dying breath.
Engaging all that I am in praise...
as long as I live, with every breath that I take.
Oh, and just in case you sense concern...
about the government,
about who to support,
about the world economy,
about violence over racial issues,
fearing the future
this very word speaks truth still today:
Don’t put your confidence
in powerful people;
there is no help for you there.
When they breathe their last,
they return to the earth,
and all their plans die with them.
But joyful are those who have
the God of Israel as their helper,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
He made heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
He keeps every promise forever.
Receive this invitation...
Join me today
in praise to our God, our Help.
He is the keeper of all promises.
Yes it is good to have a stable government.
But oh so much better to have a God
to whom we can draw near,
trusting Him with all our concerns,
all our fears, all our doubts.
Our God is greater than any trouble,
even caring about the smallest detail.
He is my HELP.
He is my STRENGTH.
He is my JOY.
He is my BREATH.
He is my ABSOLUTE.
He is my HELPER.
He is my CONFIDENCE.
He is my PROMISE.
He is my GOD.
He is... even when I am not.
Word of God
train me, today...
To ever praise You first,
before anything else each morning.
To put my trust in You and not in man,
for You are the greatest Promise Keeper.
