For the Lord to keep our mind, means that He will guard it, watch over it, protect it. But only if we give it over to Him; only if our mind is dependent on Him. This is a full leaning upon for support.
Think of it like this...
Let's say you've had a long day.
You're tired and weary from work.
You have to run a few errands on the way home.
You stand in line to purchase items at the store.
You become irritated with slow people.
But finally you arrive at home.
And all you want to do is sit down.
So which chair do you chose?
The most reliable?
The one closest to light, food, entertainment?
We typically have more than one chair at home from which to choose. And seldom to we believe that the chair will not support our weight. So we plop down on it without another thought.
That is what it's like to let our mind depend on God... our mind is the tired and weary one, and God the chair. It's probably not a stretch to consider your mind as such. But how often to we see God this way... sturdy, comfy, reliable?
But He is all that, and more.
And He longs to keep us in perfect peace...
complete wholeness where all parts fit together,
where everything is in it's proper place;
where we are at ease and without worry.
But God doesn't just want to be that chair
at the end of a long weary day.
He wants to be that place all day, every day.
He desires that we rest our mind in Him
from the beginning of the day, and through it.
For He is a rock, a firm foundation.
He is strength, power and faithfulness.
And He can be just as sure,
just as sturdy, just as comfy
and just as reliable, as your favorite chair.
Won't you trust your mind to Him today?
Won't you relax into Him fully?
This is the God of the Universe.
I think He can be trusted to handle it...
all of it.
And He does care about even the littlest detail.
So whatever your burdens, your problems, your worries...
the Perfect Peace Keeper can manage them...
all of them.
