Bethlehem seemed an overwhelmed land.
A small town in a sea of conquerors. This was in the days of Judah's captivity. Yet God had established a great plan. A mystery woven; A seed planted; many years before... in the beginning of time. One who would come forth to rule. Not in the way men anticipated. Not with sword, nor crown. But One walking in sandals, with outstretched hands, speaking gentle words. Do you know Him? Have you heard His words? "Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:18-30 HCSB How will He rule if His life ends upon a cross? Let us not limit Him to this earthly reign. For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 But this throne upon which He sits is not in Heaven alone. For there is a high place in each human heart. A sacred seat of worship where we look to what matters most. What is it we wake to? What drives and propels us? What gives us hope and help? Who and what have we seated on the throne of our heart? For it is that which we bow to daily. Let it not be... the worries, stress and perfection of this broken world. Let it not be... the constant choking of our calling due to comparison. But rather, let it be the One who can carry our burden, the One who can shoulder our cares. Let Jesus be the One true Humble Ruler Within us today.
