Oftentimes I find myself
pulling into my driveway lost in thought.
And then I shake my head and wonder...
How did I get here safely,
if I really wasn't paying attention?
But we simply have these amazing brains
given by God, with this sort of auto pilot
that kicks in and brings us home...
since it's a route we take
And I wonder if that has any bearing
on why God sometimes gave the instruction
when He sent some of his servants out...
to take a different route home.
As if maybe...
He had something special for them
on the way back.
And He didn't want them
to get lost in thought,
or even find their mission routine
or ordinary, as it would happen

For so it was commanded me
by the word of the Lord, saying,
‘You shall not eat bread, nor drink water,
nor return by the same way you came.’”
So he went another way and
did not return by the way he came to Bethel.
1 Kings 13:9 NKJV
Maybe it was God's way of protecting them.
But I wonder if maybe...
God didn't want them so comfortable
with the route,
that they began to think
they could get there all on their own.
Word of God,
train me, today...
to hold fast to the convictions You have placed on my heart,
no matter who tries to convince me otherwise,
to take a new route home, dependent on You in the change,
and looking for challenges and thrills along the way!
from my heart...
I write as an overflow... an expression of my true love for God and with a deep desire to encourage others in their day to day lives. For we can only find peace, joy, and satisfaction when we yield to the One who yielded His life for us.
