Lord, unto You I worship. For today I am amazed a the sheer scale of this temple that Solomon built for You... Now King Solomon sent and brought Huram from Tyre... a bronze worker... filled with wisdom and understanding and skill in working with all kinds of bronze work. So he came to King Solomon and did all his work. 1 Kings 7:13-14 NKJV Unto You, O Lord... I bring only my best. For You have skilled me and filled me with wisdom and understanding. You have given this skill in working with all kinds of earthly things. So I bring them to You, for Your glory And he cast two pillars of bronze, each one eighteen cubits high, and a line of twelve cubits measured the circumference of each. 1 Kings 7:15 So I understand that... 1 cubit = 1.5 feet Which means that these pillars Solomon built unto You, were each 27 feet tall and 18 feet of round girth... WOW! Those are some huge pillars! Cast of bronze, though not quite solid (1) these two pillars were not purposed to support of this building. Then he set up the pillars by the vestibule of the temple; he set up the pillar on the right and called its name Jachin, and he set up the pillar on the left and called its name Boaz. The tops of the pillars were in the shape of lilies. So the work of the pillars was finished. 1 Kings 7:21-22 NKJV Rather, these two pillars stood in the open... on a porch-like place of the Temple. Not hiding within the structure of this building, these ornamental beauties were crowned with more bronze... capitals, it says, another 7.5 feet atop. In the shape of lilies, these bronze bowls capped pillar, covered with a decorative latticework... wreaths and pomegranates. And then the naming. This, I am sure, intrigues me most. For the pillar on the right was named Jachin, to mean... He will establish. Historically... Jachin was a priest under King David who had the established authority to enter the Most Holy Place. Spiritually... Your right hand, Lord, means authority. I humble myself, unto Your will. You Lord, are Most High, Most Holy. You are the Great I AM. Creator. Maker. Alpha and Omega. And the pillar on the left was called Boaz, to mean... in Him is strength. Historically... Boaz was the kinsman redeemer of Ruth. He was the bridegroom who gave her a heritage, a new name. Spiritually... You, Lord, are my Redeemer. Jesus, You are the Bridegroom (2) who gives me heritage as Your bride... my place of belonging within the church. So all the work that King Solomon had done for the house of the Lord was finished; and Solomon brought in the things which his father David had dedicated: the silver and the gold and the furnishings. He put them in the treasuries of the house of the Lord. 1 Kings 7:51 Lord, Let me also, say unto You one day, of the purpose you have for me I am finished! And let me, as David once did, set aside the finest things I have, dedicated first to You. Let me place them in Your care, in Your treasuries. For I know that from You and through You and to You are all things for Your glory! (3) Word of God, train me, today... to come and worship You remembering to enter between these two pillars, to know that You will establish me and will give me strength in times of need. Apart from You, Lord I can do nothing. (4) I need Your beginning to establish me. I need Your middle to redeem me. I need Your end to strengthen me for a victorious finish!
