Have you ever had a dream... a vision for something heavy on your heart? Maybe it's something you talk about... or maybe it's something too hard to describe; too hard to put into words. Even though you can see it, picture it, down to the last detail. Or maybe it's more illusive... watery, wavy, wandering. But you know it's within your world to come. You envision it, seek it, know it, and wait for it. But certainly it is not something you would ever want to simply give away. David had such a dream... Then King David rose to his feet and said, “Hear me, my brethren and my people: I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made preparations to build it. But God said to me, ‘ You shall not build a house for My name, because you have been a man of war and have shed blood. 1 Chronicles 28:2-3 NKJV Can you imagine? The thing that weighs so heavy... that presses down upon you, that wakes you in the night, that takes your every breath away, is now taken from you? How could you possibly give it away? How could anyone else fulfill what only you have envisioned? You have seen it in your mind. You know its... every color, every character, every plan, every note, every change, every woken moment at night. Because... every time you obsessed over it you never had the chance to finish it! But David, this man after God's own heart, has come to an understanding... we know not how long this took for him to come to a place of giving it away. But it is clear that he now knows God's plan. For he details it before the people, and to his son, Solomon... “All this,” said David, “the Lord made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans.” And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God... my God... will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord. 1 Chronicles 28:19-20 And David is faithful to God. And David is generous to Solomon. Because all that he has seen in his mind he now willingly gives away... every color, every character, every plan, every note, every change, every woken moment at night. David now releases... every time he obsessed over it and never had the chance to finish it. And he trusts God to give Solomon the courage to complete it. This, to me... is faith! For it brings me to tears to consider giving away even a piece of my dream. Word of God, train me, today... to loosen my grasp on my dream, even though I now it is from You, to trust You fully to fulfill all You give, whether through me, or another. Lord, I trust You. The dreams and visions You give... are for Your glory. It matters not who fulfills them. As long as they glorify YOU! You wish and will us to be faithful. But Your glory is the goal!
