Our Ready Safehouse

Nahum 1:3,7.wordofgodtrain.me
Do not let me mislead you... this book of Nahum is not for the faint of heart. For it is about the destruction of those who have not listened to the warning of the prophets. It tells of those who have worshiped idols and turned their backs on the one true God.

This is why the word declares... The Lord is slow to anger but great in power... for these were given many warnings, and yet their hearts remained hardened.

Yet there was a remnant who were faithful... those who repented... who humbled their hearts and sought to worship only Him, and they were certain to find that, the Lord is good, and a stronghold in a day of distress. So that even on the day when punishment came upon His enemies, the humble found that He cares for those who take refuge in Him.

For He is always Our Ready Safehouse; a place we can hide no matter the circumstance, a shelter we can run into no matter the storm.

where GOOD faith belongs

The countdown is on...
Election Day is 97 days away
and many of us
have thrown our hands
in the air.

And yet...
I am seeing a greater number
of bumper stickers and yard signs
stating that more people are in despair,
than are convinced of their candidate.

Usually by now,
cars are plastered,
signs are staked,
and people are spouting
quippy quotes
that speak of their certainty.

But not in 2K16!
This feels more like
standing in line for
a rollercoaster ride
than gearing up for a
Presidential Election.

Honestly, there seems to be
nothing stable or trustworthy in it.
People are simply showing
more uncertainy than ever before.

But that is only what I've seen
in my limited years of observation.

For my life, is but a vapor
compared to the vast length
this earth has existed.

And long ago,
many uncertain times...
much more fearful than these,
loomed over people.

And still, these words were spoken...
The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him.

Nahum 1:7 NKJV

I bet Nahum, the prophet,
would have been grateful
to live in the U.S.
rather than Nineveh,
the capitol city of Assyria.
It would have been to him,
a piece of cake,
only to choose a candidate
from these two,
and then go about his life as usual.

And the people,
how much easier
they would have breathed
to not always hear from
the prophets that they lived in one of
THE most wicked places on earth.

And yet...
God was still protecting His people,
promising refuge, if only they would
trust Him.

And then the prophet Habakkuk,
had much to be weary over.
Living in fearful and uncertain times,
he was pressed with
a difficult message to convey.
And still, he decided...
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.

The Lord God is my strength;
He will make my feet like deer’s feet,

And He will make me walk on my high hills.
Habakkuk 3:18-19

For both these men knew
and lived by the example
that we are never to base our faith
on circumstances which surround.
That is not what faith is about.

FAITH is believing in something
you cannot see,
cannot hear,
cannot smell,
cannot taste,
cannot touch.

FAITH is believing that God is GOOD
even when the circumstances
are uncertain,
even when the choices
are uncertain,
even when the candidates
are uncertain.

Sure, it would be great
if the people we had around us,
and especially those in charge were GOOD.
But that simply may not happen.

And they won't run the universe... thankfully.
I am trusting God for that.
And I believe that God is GOOD.
Because that is what
the TRUTH of the Bible says.

And I choose to put my FAITH in God,
not people.
God made all people.
And He can work His will...
His GOOD
and perfect will,
no matter who happens to live
in a White House
in a certain city
in this United States.

Trust Him... He is GOOD!

Oh, taste and see that
the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Psalm 34:8

For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

Psalm 100:5

Won't you too,
TRUST in the Lord?
And vote... in 97 days.

Word of God
train me today...

To place my FAITH in You, Lord,
as the only GOOD and
perfect God we need!

To let You be God,
knowing that people
are not always good,
but You always will be.
