Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house,
and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies all around... 2 Samuel 7:1 NKJV God has given David a home, and he is given time to dwell in it, at rest from his enemies on every side. And he contemplates it. He thanks God for it. I wonder if we too, take time for the same? Understanding that the quiet, the peace, the rest, whenever it comes... is a gift from God. And we are to receive it and to dwell in it. During it, David takes time to contemplate how he can show his appreciation to God. What can he give back? He has the ark of God. Yet it has always existed in a tent, while he lives within a beautiful home, a palace built for him. And he contemplates... Why has no one build a home for the ark? But David does not consider to move forward in such an endeavor without a word from God. Not after the death of Uzzah. David has a greater respect for God's will with this most holy ark. And the Lord spoke through the prophet Nathan... a word to David of his future. He was not to build a temple to the Lord to contain this ark, but rather that would be a task for his son. Furthermore, he was told... And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever. 2 Samuel 7:16 This was the prophecy of the seed of Jesus. This was certainly the greatest blessing received through the house of David. Let us ever and always be grateful that David was faithful. For through his faithfulness, we are all certainly blessed And now, O Lord God, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant. Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord God, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever.” 2 Samuel 7:28-29 Word of God, train me, today... to recognized when peace and rest come, it is a blessing from You, to daily return an honest praise for the blessed seed of David, Jesus my Savior. Lord, I thank You and praise You when there is a quiet moment. I often let them pass by without a moments notice. But You God are my Provider. Even of the quiet. Thank You even more, for the seed you provided through the lineage David. Your Son, the precious Jesus... my Savior. How blessed I am, indeed.
