The name of Yahweh is the proper name of God... like my name is Lisa, and yours may be Laura or Hannah. It is the word we use in English, LORD, and is built upon His introduction Moses as, I AM.
Just His name alone... spoken, whispered, utter in reverence gives us protection. Because He, Himself is unmovable, unshakable, unfailing in all He proclaims. He is everlasting, all-powerful, and all-knowing, and present everywhere.
Why would we take shelter any other place, in any other time? Why would we run away from shelter, safety and provision?
Is that our human definition of freedom? Standing far off... denying the One who created us and all that exists, because we "think" we can do all things without Him.
Let us humble our hearts.
Let us let go of our pride.
Even in the good times.
Let us realize His unfailing love.
LORD God, how grateful I am
that You never change.
Gather us today.
And let us be joyful as we RUN to You,
Our Strong Tower!
I grasp for it when I feel oppressed.
I shout about it when I want my way.
But in the wide expanse of choice, I've realized that if I'm bare of boundaries... absent of guidance, my view becomes distorted... distracted by the immediate.
I end up looking down at my feet, pridefully believing that I'm pointed in the right direction. And when my arms get tired, I either complain of limitations or brag of my hard work. But most often, I'm only wearing myself out; justifying it as holy.
And when I come to my spiritual senses, I acknowledge that God's scales reveal a different measure. For apart from Him... I can do nothing of eternal value.
So I cry out to Him...
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit.
Psalm 51:10-12 AMP
I do long to commit my works... to roll them over onto You, Lord. For they are simply too heavy for my frail humanity. I weary myself thinking I can do this myself.
Show me a better way.
Teach me to trust You more.
Lead and guide me....
away from my own pride.
Lift my arms to let go of control
and surrender all success to You.
The Lord blesses us with riches we cannot even count.
And the amazing thing is that they are all free.
We cannot earn them.
We do not deserve them.
We cannot repay them.
We cannot create them.
The Lord does not desire that we struggle or strive to achieve all that He willingly gives. He is a good Father pouring out blessings upon those who will yield to Him. All we need do is rest in His grace; give in to His better way of life.
Thank You, Lord for enriching my life!
Help me to release my grasp
and trust You fully in this.
Solomon authored many wise words. And although he was straightforward and truthful, he never lost poetic touch.
Here he personifies wisdom as a woman.
Doesn’t Wisdom call out?
Doesn’t Understanding make her voice heard?
At the heights overlooking the road,
at the crossroads, she takes her stand.
She is certain, she is firm.
She stands for justice and truth of God.
She calls out... so that there is no excuse.
And we read that she has been beside the Lord since the beginning of time, a laborer in His creative process; a keeper of His wonders. She seems to be ever-present, always available and easy to find.
those who keep my ways are happy.
For the one who finds me finds life
and obtains favor from the Lord,
but the one who misses me harms himself;
all who hate me love death.
Let us not neglect listening.
Let us seek wisdom from the Lord.
For when we find her,
we receive happiness, favor and life.
I must admit, I go though phases of worry. When I first got married, I constantly feared my husband would die or become fatally ill. Then after my first child was born, the fear of sudden danger transferred to her.
But God assures us, claiming to BE our CONFIDENCE. For look how He promises to keep our feet from being trapped, so that we won't stumble or be taken by the enemy.
Let us turn over our fears to God.
Let us let go of worry and turn to worship.
For fear and faith cannot live in the same breath.
Lord remove this cyclical fear of danger from our hears so that we may fully rely on the Saving Confidence Confidence found in You!
