God has not stopped speaking to us. So could it be that we are simply not listening; not in tune to Him at the right time, in the right place. For He speaks to our spirit, deep within us. Not an audible voice, but a whisper.
And why not while we sleep, when we are less likely to reason the vision away, stepping right into the action no matter it's illogical nature. For His ways are higher than our ways, His thoughts higher than ours. So let us be sensitive, seeking and soaking Him in when we awake, and pray we realize these visions to become realized.
Such sad words we read from Job. He longs for days gone by. He wastes away in his lonely darkness, feeling as if God has left him. As if God once watched over him, guided him, and lit his way. And now with pain and sorrow, he feels as though God has somehow left him.
But the truth is, God does not leave. He is constant. God, in fact is the only thing in this world that cannot, and will not change. And His light cannot, and will not be overcome by the worst darkness we can imagine.
If we are in the middle of a dark time, we must turn and keep turning until we find Him. For if we cannot see the light, it simply means we are not looking in the right direction. Shadows fall behind objects in the light. You've stood outside in the sun, you know this!
Let us not stand facing the shadows. Rather, turn toward the light... feeling the warmth of His love upon our face, knowing the problem is now behind us. It IS a matter of perspective, of choice, of trusting in the One who holds light and life.
Leave the days of, "If only..."
Begin again, fresh and bright today. His mercies and compassions are new for each of us. His faithful love never fails!
But where can wisdom be found,
and where is understanding located?
No man can know its value,
since it cannot be found in the land of the living.
The ocean depths say, “It’s not in me,”
while the sea declares, “I don’t have it.”
Gold cannot be exchanged for it,
and silver cannot be weighed out for its price.
Job 28:12-15 HCSB
And here we walk the earth thinking we know so much, even as elders to our youth, looking upon them, shaking our heads wondering when they will learn.
But how much more we do not know!
For no man can know the value of wisdom... not compared to our Lord. He knows it's very location. He realizes the end from the beginning. Who are we to pridefully question...
"If God __________ ?" and fill in any blank?
When God fixed the weight of the wind
and limited the water by measure,
when He established a limit for the rain
and a path for the lightning,
He considered wisdom and evaluated it;
He established it and examined it.
He said to mankind,
“The fear of the Lord is this: wisdom.
And to turn from evil is understanding.”
Let us stop in the middle our hectic pace to look heavenward, let us consider the truly amazing things God has done. We so take for granted that the sky simply remains suspended on nothing... because God told it to.
And on a cloudy day, we might complain that our need for sunshine is blocked, but do we consider that water is suspended within... that they may be heavy, yet do not burst nor come plummeting to earth from their weight.
If God can uphold and suspend the skies on nothing, can He not also sustain and uphold us when we need the help to stand? How much more He loves us... purposed, planned, called and redeemed.
Let us thank Him for all He upholds and know that He is worthy to lean upon daily.
How thankful I am for the patience of God!
That He knows my stubborn ways, my difficulty reasoning, my desire to get it done on my own... in my time frame. And still He waits for me to turn to Him. For then He has a renewing word for me; instruction from His mouth that will give me peace.
If I will only come to HIS terms, receive HIS instruction, place HIS sayings in my heart... then I will be renewed. Oh what peace there is to rely completely on God!
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.
Blessed are You, O Lord!
Teach me Your statutes.
Psalm 119:11-12 NKJV
from my heart...
I write as an overflow... an expression of my true love for God and with a deep desire to encourage others in their day to day lives. For we can only find peace, joy, and satisfaction when we yield to the One who yielded His life for us.
