Amazing favor!

Our God truly amazes me!
He is not only Creator, but He plans ahead for our favor.

And the Lord said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. Afterward he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out of here altogether.
Speak now in the hearing of the people and...
let every man ask from his neighbor and
every woman from her neighbor, articles of silver and articles of gold.”

And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians.

Exodus 11:1-3

Now this request, at first seems to be a strange one.
Because Moses has gone time after time to Pharaoh asking to let God's people go. And with each increasing hardship... each damaging plague, Pharaoh it seems, is less inclined to release them.
But God tells Moses to have the Hebrew people... the slaves, ask their Egyptian neighbors for silver and gold.
And stranger still... the Lord put it on the heart of the Egyptians to give these things over to the Israelites.

And when finally Pharaoh gives in... when he has found his first born son dead from the last plague and he releases the Israelites, the people are ready to go.
Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses,
and they had asked from the Egyptians
articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing.

And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians,
so that they granted them what they requested.
Thus they plundered the Egyptians.

Exodus 12:35-36

Amazing!
This is truly amazing to me that these people who were formerly slaves to the Egyptians, simply walked out of town, carrying gold and silver treasures... and the Egyptians handed them over under God's favor.
They didn't have to lie, cheat or steal.
There was no manipulation or deceit.
The Egyptians simply handed over their finest of things...
silver, gold, and clothing to their Israelite slaves...
almost as if they are eager to be rid of them.
And God's people walk away with hands full.

Does that just blow your mind like it does mine?
I mean, God's favor is simply miraculous!

And we will find out later, that God has planned these things for a great purpose.
Even in the wilderness.
Word of God... train me, today...
to look for God's favor in my life,
to realize that God is for me!

Lord God,
You truly amaze me!
For Your word is true.
And I thank You that You have not changed
even from the days of these Israelites that you favored so long ago.

You are the same God who can fill our hands and give us favor today...
even from our enemies.
Let us see Your hand of provision in our lives.
Let us be ever grateful for all that You provide.
