Here I am Lord,
to enter the loveliest of sonnets.
The lyric, the poem, the tale.
This a love story of greatest joy.
A groom once shepherd, turned king,
courting his lovely country bride.
Tho not alone, she is proper...
as by her side these maidens wait,
the daughters of Jerusalem.
And too, I understand,
this to be You, the Groom
and we the church, Your bride,
Your sweet Israel.
You court us, You woo us,
You love us undeniably.
You, the Beloved, so perfect...
anointed to be our Savior.
Let us fall in love with You,
not in romance,
but because of the pure
and undeniable pursuit.
And the Beloved speaks...
Like a lily among thorns,
So is my love among the daughters.
Song of Solomon 2:2 NKJV
This beautiful lily,
the noble plant, grows tall,
reaching skyward praising her love,
boasting her soul to worship Him.
Yet the frailness within...
her stem, too weak
cries out for strength
only He can provide.
Surrounded by thorns...
she grows in this world of
difficulty, darkness and disbelief.
But grateful are we
that He gives us these daughters,
these sisters, these lovely others,
in fellowship to unite,
gathering in worship together.
Like an apple tree
among the trees of the woods,
So is my beloved among the sons.
I sat down in his shade with great delight,
And his fruit was sweet to my taste.
Song of Solomon 2:3
He... this strong and mighty tree,
planted on earth,
a Savior, a gift of love from our Father.
His shade my protection and refuge.
His fruit this grace and forgiveness
so freely given.
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Psalm 34:8 NLT
Word of God,
train me, today...
to see the beauty in this book of love,
as You teach me anew,
to be dedicated to You,
as a new bride would be,
excited to speak her new name.
I thank You for the variety
of all that Your word offers.
Even this Song of Solomon
that is seldom read,
I long to learn more of You
in and through it.
from my heart...
I write as an overflow... an expression of my true love for God and with a deep desire to encourage others in their day to day lives. For we can only find peace, joy, and satisfaction when we yield to the One who yielded His life for us.
