Sometimes, I admit
it seems as if God is silent,
not speaking, not moving, not acting.
But maybe that is not
because of the reality
on His side of heaven.
Maybe it has more to do with
the distractions I allow own my side...
keeping me from noticing.
For I know that the Lord is great,
And our Lord is above all gods.
Whatever the Lord pleases He does...
Psalm 135:5-6 NKJV
Because this Psalm
describes a God who is very much
one of action verbs!
These of the hear and now...
He causes the vapors to ascend
from the ends of the earth;
He makes lightning for the rain;
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.
And these of His past success...
He destroyed the firstborn of Egypt,
Both of man and beast.
He sent signs and wonders
into the midst of you, O Egypt,
Upon Pharaoh and all his servants.
He defeated many nations
And slew mighty kings--
Sihon king of the Amorites,
Og king of Bashan,
And all the kingdoms of Canaan--
And gave their land as a heritage,
A heritage to Israel His people.
From the beginning of time
until now, our God is certainly not
one who sits still, waiting for things to change.
He is a God at work, and...
Whatever the Lord pleases He does.
So in uncertain times,
whether personal or national,
let us not sit around, waiting and wondering.
But rather let us bow to our knees and pray.
Let us call upon God to move into action
by first praising Him, simply for who He is...
Your name, O Lord, endures forever,
Your fame, O Lord, throughout all generations.
For the Lord will judge His people,
And He will have compassion on His servants.
And then let us ask Him
to move into action on our behalf.
Let us plead with Him, actually...
to guide our lives,
to guide our nation
as He pleases.
For His will can only be
what is best for us.
Word of God
train me, today...
to have the same desire of heart as You.
to humble myself daily and pray
that You move in my life, move in our nation,
taking action as You please.
from my heart...
I write as an overflow... an expression of my true love for God and with a deep desire to encourage others in their day to day lives. For we can only find peace, joy, and satisfaction when we yield to the One who yielded His life for us.
