After the Lord showed His glory before the people, a most unfortunate event occurred. Two of Aaron's sons who had been anointed as priests, acted irresponsibly , treating the sacred and holy items of the Lord as if they were common.
Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu each took his own firepan, put fire in it, placed incense on it, and presented unauthorized fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them to do. Then fire came from the Lord and burned them to death before the Lord.
Leviticus 10:1-2 HCSB
This to be certain had to be more frightening than the first act of God's glory revealed. But these two men were acting pridefully, taking the focus away from the holiness of God and drawing it toward themselves as His chosen ones.
So the Lord quickly secluded Aaron and his two remaining sons within the tent of meeting and gave this instruction...
You must distinguish between the holy and the common, and the clean and the unclean, and teach the Israelites all the statutes that the Lord has given to them through Moses.”
For our God is clear on what is true, what is holy and what is clean. And He will not tolerate to be represented by those who only seek to promote themselves, or who do not fear Him fully.
The Lord is loving and kind, merciful beyond compare. But He is also holy and just. Let us desire to know Him, distinguishing truth always.

I write as an overflow... an expression of my true love for God and with a deep desire to encourage others in their day to day lives. For we can only find peace, joy, and satisfaction when we yield to the One who yielded His life for us.
