And this is what you shall do to them
to hallow them for ministering to Me as priests...
As we continue today's reading it may seem to some as gruesome.
The offerings, the sacrifices, the blood...
so I want to ready your hearts and your minds
in case you have not read much in this part of the Old Testament.
For as we begin to read of the types of sacrifices the priests were to make
we read a great deal about blood.
And not only it's sprinkling,
but it seems to be everywhere.
And when I first read it, I admit, I was bothered.
For I imagined this alter constantly covered with blood.
Over and over again...
it seemed too messy, too violent.
And then God let my heart know why it bothered me.
For He did not make this gruesome.
Our enemy did.
You see, God gave man a way to receive forgiveness of sin
through the shedding of blood...
the very thing that gives life.
And to God, the blood is a beautiful thing.
We actually read of the pleasing aroma to God.
And before we cringe and turn away, we must realize
that the reason we don't understand
is because we associate blood with violence.
Satan has used the very thing that offers life...
that redeems and forgives,
to be poured out and splattered in violent scenes of movies.
He has tainted what God ordained.
He has twisted what God intentioned.
These violent scenes, sadly are common place today.
Because of the gory nature of movies and TV,
has become this gruesome, negative vision
And that was never God's intention.
So as we continue the reading of sacrifices and anointing,
please keep in mind
that our God is holy and not violent.
Our God is forgiving and not gruesome.
The blood of the Lamb was shed
for our forgiveness
for the gift of our eternal life.
And it is beautiful to God.
Word of God... train me, today...
to remember the holy and perfect purposes of God,
to remove the worldly perspective as I read the Word each day.
I thank You and praise You for Your atonement for my sin.
I am ever grateful
that we are living in an age of grace.
Where these sacrifices are no longer required of us...
but that You gave the greatest sacrifice of all.
Thank You, Jesus,
for dying for me.
For shedding Your blood...
the ultimate payment for my sins.
For rising to new life.
And for loving me through eternity.
from my heart...
I write as an overflow... an expression of my true love for God and with a deep desire to encourage others in their day to day lives. For we can only find peace, joy, and satisfaction when we yield to the One who yielded His life for us.
